What a gig asks.

Kick. Snare. Toms. One at a time.

Line check, then sound check instrument by instrument, then hours building the mix.

The stream needs its own mix.

You’re mixing the room. Someone still has to mix the broadcast.

Then you do it all again.

Next day, next room, next gig. Same band, starting from zero.

Sound check, without the hours.

Most engineers line check, then sound check one instrument at a time, then spend hours building the mix. Then do it all again at the next gig.

The usual way

  1. Line checkEvery mic, one by one, to make sure it’s alive.
  2. Sound checkKick. Snare. Toms. Bass. Keys. One at a time, while everyone waits.
  3. Build the mixEQ, compression and levels, channel by channel. Often hours.
  4. Next gigNew room, same band. Start again from zero.

With DINE

  1. Check InputsEvery mic at once. One word each: OK, LOW, SILENT.
  2. Play one songTUNE MIX listens for about 30 seconds and sets every channel.
  3. Fine-tuneChange what matters to you. Every setting says why it’s there.
  4. Next gigOpen the last show’s input map and scenes, and start from there.

A starting point in 30 seconds.

TUNE MIX listens for about 30 seconds, then sets levels, EQ, dynamics, groups and master loudness across every channel, each with a one-line reason. Then you mix.

Solo without the stream hearing it.

Monitor solo sends a channel to your headphones on its own bus. The room and the stream keep the full mix. PFL, AFL, or solo to a second device.

Match the band’s record.

Give it the band’s latest release. The master is aimed at its tone and loudness, so the stream sounds like the album. LIVE SAFE keeps every change small while you’re on air.

Questions

Can I override what TUNE MIX sets?

Always. Every setting is in Advanced with the reason next to it. Change anything, or press PUT BACK to undo DINE’s move.

Will it work with my console?

If the console or stage box sends its channels to the Mac over USB or network audio, DINE can record and mix them. A session opens even when the console it was recorded on is not connected.

What if it changes something while I’m live?

It won’t on its own. TUNE MIX only proposes; nothing changes until you press KEEP. With LIVE SAFE on, routing, deletes and re-tunes are held and any move stays small. Autopilot, if you engage it, moves group faders only, half a decibel at a time, and says why.
